题目:  Interface Engineering and Molecular Structure Tailoring for Organic Electronic Devices: from OLEDs to Transistors and Memories

摘要:

Electronic devices based on organic semiconducting materials are becoming attractive alternatives to the traditional ones based on inorganic semiconductors. The performance of various devices depends on a number of parameters, including the molecular structure of organic semiconductors, the packing/orientation and film morphology at the dielectric surfaces, the interfacial barriers for charge injection, among others. Many of these parameters are nevertheless interrelated. An understanding of interfacial structures and even a correlation of structure and property is important to the design of new materials/structures for high performance devices.

In this talk, I will present our recent efforts in understanding the performance of various electronic devices in the context of interfacial structures as well as molecular structures. In particular, the hole/electron charge balance in the OLEDs was explored by systematic modification of ITO electrodes using self-assembled monolayers(SAMs). Modificationof metal/dielectric surface by the adsorption of properly chosen SAMs also has profound influence on the packing/orientation of molecules at the substrate and thus the charge mobility in OFETs. Introducing various kinds of carrier traps in the conducting channels of pentacene-based transistors for the preparation of organic transistor/memories will also be presented, where interfacial structure also plays critical roles in determining the response and lifetime of the memory function. Use of single crystal field-effect transistors (SCFET) and thin film devices of various molecular semiconductors in an effort to understand the structure-property correlation in semiconducting molecules will also be covered.

 

个人简介:

祖籍湖南省衡陽縣人,1975年获台湾清华大學化學系學士, 1981年获美國羅徹斯特大學化學博士现任中央威尼斯人游戏网站化學研究所研究員,國立清華大學化學系教授。1994-2013年任中央威尼斯人游戏网站化學研究所所长。曾经获得《侯金堆傑出榮譽獎》基礎科學-數理類獎和国科会杰出研究奖。陶雨台博士是台灣由化學踏入材料科學的第一人。他利用早期對物理有機化學深入並嫺熟的知识,從金屬表面單一分子薄膜的研究入手,探討分子的相互作用和排列機制,作出过重要的貢獻。近年來,陶博士在台湾成為OLED領域的先驅者,他結合有機化學的技術,合成了多種新穎的發光材料,從藍光、綠光乃至正紅光及白光材料,創多項發光亮度之記錄,已有多项相关專利,为台湾OLED的产业化也作出了重要贡献。 米技術是他的另一新興研究領域,陶博士對於米薄膜研究有獨特之處,為分子電子元件之應用,提供了新的方法。他協助中央威尼斯人游戏网站與相關研究所成立了纳米科技中心及國際研究生院。 陶博士在一流期刊上发表很多重要科学论文。
